Day 58
I finally made it out for a full moon! Brrrr it was chilly. They call February’s full moon the snow moon, but, it wasn’t THAT cold. Phew.
I finally made it out for a full moon! Brrrr it was chilly. They call February’s full moon the snow moon, but, it wasn’t THAT cold. Phew.
So, January’s full moon is called a Wolf Moon. This was a day late from the full moon, so, technically a waning moon. But, still huge and almost creepy on such a cloudy night, with that glow around it.
I miss taking pictures of the moon. Maybe by the time we have a full moon again, I’ll be able to get out there again.
I finally took out the manual and figured out how to slave my external flash! Yay! I didn’t play much today- but, here’s one of the few shots I took to verify it was working. Much easier than I thought!

Poor Leo- for a dog who hates the camera, he sure ends up being the subject a lot. It’s his fault for being so pretty.
The moon was SO big tonight! I’m pretty sure it hasn’t changed much since I last took a picture of it. Here it is at 100% at 300mm (with a 1.5x sensor crop).

And here’s that black eye, taken a few hours after he fell. Don’t worry- he’s just making that face because I was forcing a photo out of him when he was having a severe bout of PCS, not because he was in pain or anything. The bruise makes me sad- but, the face kinda makes me smile. Dra-ma!

Random thought- it’s amusing that “There’s someone else…” is one of the most frequent clicks. People must be so disappointed when they read that it’s not even remotely soap opera-ish. Just another post about a stick. And I wasn’t even trying to be funny- it just came out that way. Heehee.
The moon was pouting, probably because bright little Venus was stealing her show, with her buddy Jupiter in tow. It’s a rare night sky! Some parts of the world saw a smiley face- but, not us.

That’s Venus on the bottom, in case you don’t know. This was barely an hour after sunset.
And here’s fun with levels! I sure hope that black blob near Venus is just some weirdness from the level tweakafying, and not a giant black hole devouring all the light. Eek!

If it is a black hole, I discovered it, so I get to name it- and it’s been dubbed Geisha. After the dachshund who will eat anything. Seriously, one time she ate a bellybutton ring. She’s weird.
So, I’m going to moon everyone!
Sadly, Gabe’s naptime didn’t leave us much daylight to play around, but, it is fabulous and we’re going to be the best of friends! The moon was full, or pretty close to it, so I threw the 300mm zoom on it and here ya go. Not the best shot, as I’m still learning this camera’s settings, and I don’t own a telescope or a satellite or anything, but, you can recognize it as the moon, right?

I can’t wait to take pictures tomorrow (today, by the time you read this)! Yay! Oh, and my new lens is super cool, too.
