Ice man. No, he’s too neurotic to be cool-cool. He just really likes icecubes. Here, he’s begging for one. Another, actually- he’d just finished one. He doesn’t know when to stop. And the little guy will spend the next 30 minutes shivering, curled up into a little ball, because he’s cold. Our dogs are so weird.

This is Jake, in some right-before-the-sun-goes-down drama lighting. He’s our oldest boy- and our most neurotic. We do love him so, though. His song goes, “Jake Jake Jake… Jake Jake Jake… Jake your boooootie. Jake your booooooootie!!!” What, your dogs don’t have songs?

Officially Lynx. Weird little dog. He’s lived with me since he was 8 weeks old (he just had his sixth birthday in February), so, I suppose I only have myself to blame. But, like all our weenies, he’s a much loved part of the family.

I finally took out the manual and figured out how to slave my external flash! Yay! I didn’t play much today- but, here’s one of the few shots I took to verify it was working. Much easier than I thought!

Poor Leo- for a dog who hates the camera, he sure ends up being the subject a lot. It’s his fault for being so pretty.
The moon was SO big tonight! I’m pretty sure it hasn’t changed much since I last took a picture of it. Here it is at 100% at 300mm (with a 1.5x sensor crop).

And here’s that black eye, taken a few hours after he fell. Don’t worry- he’s just making that face because I was forcing a photo out of him when he was having a severe bout of PCS, not because he was in pain or anything. The bruise makes me sad- but, the face kinda makes me smile. Dra-ma!

Random thought- it’s amusing that “There’s someone else…” is one of the most frequent clicks. People must be so disappointed when they read that it’s not even remotely soap opera-ish. Just another post about a stick. And I wasn’t even trying to be funny- it just came out that way. Heehee.

Or you can just call him Woo. What a mouthful, huh? But, we also have a long haired chocolate and tan dapple, a smooth coated black and tan dapple, a soft wire (SO not an official term- but, sounds better than woolly coated) black and tan dapple, a long haired red dapple, and poor simple little Jake, the smooth coated black and tan. If they were all intact, we’d be a puppymiller’s dream.
And by the way- if you say “Datsun” or “Dash-hound”, you are soooooo wrong. And people who know how to pronounce the word correctly, probably mock you a little. Maybe a lot. :-p
Here’s that long haired red dapple weenie (this is light-years better than those mispronunciations I mentioned), Leo, basking in the sun. He’s probably our most photogenic- and is definitely, the least fond of the camera.

See? This was one of the next frames- he HATES having the lens on him! Such a shame.

If you want to stop the cruel ridicule, you can learn how to pronounce dachshund here.

… who likes sticks!

But, Gabe isn’t a very good sharer yet. Poor Jake!

But, when he first made it into our home, I sung “His name is Leo and he runs around the room, just like the other dogs, he reaaally likes to zoom” to the tune of Duran Duran’s Rio for him all the time. I really enjoyed the “Oh Leee-o, Leeeeee-o!” part, but, I don’t remember if I ever made up words to the rest of that verse.
Maybe it was my amazing musical stylings that finally won him over- he really is a different dog now. Sure, he has eight billion less ticks (um, that would be none, in case you were wondering if he started with eight billion and one). And he’s gained a few lbs, despite being unable to eat out of a bowl completely normally. And maybe he just felt bad for me, for being so completely devoid of anything resembling musical stylings. But, we are REALLY happy that he stuck it out with us and can fake being a “normal dog” at least fairly well, most days.

Heh. I’ve only posted Lynx and Leo so far (just 1/3 of our weenie pack). People who don’t know about the rest of them might think we name all our dogs after cats.

Just a few pics from the vault. These were taken with my first digicam- a $500 (in 2003) 2.1MP Canon Elph! LOL!
This is one of the dachshund pack as a puppy- Stinky Linky (formal name Lynx, but, he rarely goes by it). Wasn’t he sweet? Hard to believe he’ll be 6yo next February! He’s been such a good buddy.
